Foster Families Love Life is an educational/advocacy campaign of Intercept Youth Services. This campaign was created to provide the "bigger picture" to communities about the needs of foster children. Every day, hundreds of children enter the foster care system throughout the country due to abuse and neglect. Local Departments of Social Service staff work diligently to ensure each and every child is placed in a safe and caring home. Unfortunately, finding the right "fit" can be a struggle because our state and country has a significant shortage of appropriate foster homes.
Intercept's Foster Families Love Life campaign has the goal of increasing the number of foster homes available to children and youth throughout the State of Virginia. Intercept recognizes that while there is a great need for foster families, it may not be the right role for every family. Therefore, we encourage everyone to consider how you can contribute your time and talents. Whether you choose to become more active in your community, volunteer with a program that serves foster children or seek paid opportunities like mentoring or tutoring, you not only positively impact others, you make a significant impact on yourself! Whatever your passion is, Intercept is happy to help you find the right path for you to make a lasting positive impact!
If you believe that becoming a foster parent is the "right next step" for you and your family, please feel free and contact an Intercept recruiter/trainer at an office site closest to you. Intercept staff members are also available to meet with civic, social and church associations as well as attend local community events to increase awareness of the needs of foster children and foster families. Please let us know if you would like an Intercept staff member to attend a meeting or event to share information about foster parenting needs and opportunities in our community.
